As a kid that grew up listening to Vin Scully, Dick Enberg, Bob Miller and Chick Hearn, it was always my dream to become a broadcaster. After three years of minor league baseball in the mid-90s, real life demanded that the dream be limited to local broadcasts for Occidental College in Los Angeles. For the last 20 years, I’ve pursued (and very much enjoyed) that and I have no regrets. I’m a partner in the largest law firm in California, I have a wonderful wife with two great kids and I’m surrounded by great friends.
While I still wish to continue broadcasting for Occidental College and I’m not necessarily looking to leave my law practice, with the kids leaving the nest, and with the proliferation of televised sports across all sorts of platforms, I just began to think, “why not me?” I’ve certainly got the experience, knowledge and ability to do just about any game anywhere. As is apparent from my resume, I’ve certainly stayed involved in broadcasting in the last 20 years. Mind you, the Occidental broadcasts were/are a DIY enterprise, beginning in 1999, when streaming was in its infancy and required some technical gymnastics just to get the game to stream. I supplied and set up the equipment and was responsible for uploading the stream. I even sold the ad space, recorded the spots and prepared music beds for the intro/outros.
The people at Occidental College have been great to me and for the last 20 years, I’ve been privileged to call their football, basketball and baseball games. But again, I feel it’s time to see what else is out there. I can do any game, any time, anywhere for any team.
So. if you are a team, network or other content provider – whether by streaming or broadcast – I am available to do whatever game in whatever sport you may need a play-by-play person.
